On-Going Projects

Chris Henderson and I are working on a West Akron Kiwanis project called “Greening of Akron.  It will use an AmeriCorp model and funding to develop a corp of 30 or so youths, who will be trained to engage in implementing green infrastructures throughout the city to mitigate combined sewer overflows  The Akron Urban League will act as our fiscal agent and some of the other stakeholders are Keep Akron Beautiful and the City of Akron.

Tofu factory – I am starting to build a coalition of folks and businesses interested in creating a tofu factory, right here in Akron.  Tofu is made from soy beans, which is the second cash crop in Ohio and yet most tofu in our stores come from California.  With the current trend towards healthier eating, I believe all the fundamentals are here to make that a success.

flapjacksAnnual Flapjacks and Flowers – I am the chair and it’s our 27th annual event to raise money for the Akron Youth Symphony. May 7th West Akron Kiwanis Presents Flapjacks and Flowers Pancake Breakfast

Louisiana Fried Chicken – I just took on a consulting engagement to assist a client who wants to open several LFC franchises in Akron.  (Recall that I once consulted for the House of Hunan restaurant).  We’re just starting but that should be another exciting venture.
